This bed is all-natural white cedar and easy to assemble with one person. The wood will have fissures in it called, "checking." This is natural and desireable as each piece will "check" uniquely.
Our Lodge Pine bed is made of Northern White Cedar. It is a creamy white color that blends with any decor. It has a smooth surface that adds comfort. White Cedar is naturally resistant to rot and insect damage. It weathers gracefully to a silvery gray when left untreated. It can be stained to match decor with quality exterior wood sealants. It will not shrink or warp.
If you are considering natural log furniture please not that all log furniture is subject to the natural process of checking. Checking happens as wood releases moisture and normally occurs across or through the annual growth rings. Checking is one of the characteristics of cedar and does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood.
This bed is made from natural cedar logs. Log diameters vary over the length of the log. Therefore, outside measurements such as overall length and width may vary several inches from one bed to the other, even though one is measuring beds with the same bed number. The length and width measurements listed in our catalog for all beds indicate the size of the mattress that appies to the bed. As a rsult of varying log diametes, the clearance from the mattress to the bedframe may very, as the logs vary. This is normal.
